Dr. James F. Wolcott, IV, is a board-certified endodontist, educator, and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Known for his skill, precision, and genuine care for patients, Dr. Wolcott combines advanced clinical training with a calm, compassionate approach that helps patients feel at ease throughout their endodontic treatment.
Education & Professional Training
Dr. Wolcott completed his D.D.S degree at the University of Colorado in 1992 and went on to complete a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1995. He then earned his specialty training in Endodontics from Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1998.
His comprehensive education and board certification reflect his dedication to achieving clinical excellence and providing the highest level of care for his patients. He spent 13 years as a partner at an endodontic practice in Colorado Springs before opening Endodontics of New Mexico from 2012-2025.
Experience, Affiliations & Academic Leadership
Dr. Wolcott’s professional affiliations include his current teaching appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, where he served on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Endodontics and as a member of the Association’s Board of Directors. Dr. Wolcott has also authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, contributing to the advancement of endodontic research and education.

As an experienced Scottsdale endodontist, Dr. Wolcott is passionate about helping patients preserve their natural teeth through advanced root canal therapy, retreatment, and endodontic surgery. Outside the Office
When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Wolcott enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his passion for motorsports. He and his son, Oliver, are active members of the Phoenix Kart Racing Association (PKRA), where they race competitively and participate in community events. This shared hobby reflects Dr. Wolcott’s love of precision, focus, and teamwork—values that mirror his approach to endodontics.
